Waller-Bridge earned major critical acclaim as the writer and star of Fleabag this past year, and now Variety reports she is set to take "a key role" in the second Star Wars anthology film.
Phoebe, 31, is believed to be in the running to play a CGI character in the Han Solo spin-off.
Waller-Bridge also had some raunchy scenes in Fleabag, the BBC Three show which became a massive worldwide success past year. The role is described as being a "significant part of the ensemble", in the same vein as Chewbacca, C-3P0 and K-2SO.
It also stars Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke in an unrevealed role, and Woody Harrelson as Han Solo's mentor.
Fleabag featured on many critics' and publications' top 10 of the best TV of 2016; it was also nominated in multiple categories at the Critics' Choice TV Awards and the Broadcast awards.
The film is scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018; if it's a hit, we'll have decades of sequels and spinoffs to look forward to, many of which will no doubt feature Phoebe Waller-Bridge's CGI character. We could get a nice surprise and have her be an ass kicker though. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) are attached to direct the film, so it's no surprise they could be shaking things up.
"Rogue One" made for a very happy holiday season at the box office so why not follow "Force Awakens", "Rogue One" and the upcoming eighth film in the Skywalker saga "Star Wars: The Last Jedi".
