Switzerland breaks records with brief spring in February

Posted February 25, 2017

Record highs in Concord (63 degrees) and Portsmouth (62 degrees) set previous year could fall. The temperature in Boston reached 71 degrees shortly early Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Boston was among many places in the Eastern United States to set a single-day temperature record for February 23.

The unseasonal weather, due to a mass of dry, hot air moving up from Spain, meant it felt more like the end of April than February, with temperatures on the Swiss lowlands some 12 degrees warmer than usual for this time of year, said MeteoNews.

On Feb. 26, 2000, the thermometer also crested to 71 degrees.

Louisville: Roy Williams Postgame
The roars at the Dean Dome only grew louder as the night wore on and North Carolina began to methodically impose its will. We don't have to be like everybody else", Carolina head coach Roy Williams told ESPN . "But give them a lot of credit".

We do have the potential to hit 70 degrees today and break yet another record for the month of February. "Records go back to 1872, according to the National Weather Service".

Worcester also set an all-time record when it reached 68 degrees around 1:30 p.m. Saturday will still remain on the mild side ahead of a cold front that slides in for the second half of the weekend.

A record high temperature of 61 degrees was set at JFK Airport. That is six degrees above the city's previous high from 1943 and 1990. At the time, local news included an inquiry into reports of fish being dynamited in the Niagara River, the newspaper says.
