Community Good Friday service creates unity in the way of the cross

The service, which is open to the community regardless of denomination, begins noon Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 502 W. Maine.

"We have to adjust our lives to the model of our life which is Jesus, and sometimes making that adjustment in our lives is hard", Saenz said. It starts at 11:30 a.m.at the Westmoreland County Courthouse and continues down seven city blocks, ending at a member church of the Greensburg Ministerium.

Wes Register, Associate Pastor of CrossPoint Community Church, said it's a demonstration of the sacrifices Jesus made for us on Good Friday.

Steffy, along with congregation members, organized what the pastor referred to as a "Cross Walk", a re-enactment of Jesus' walk through the streets of Jerusalem carrying His cross on the day that He was crucified.

Among the subjects contemplated at the stations are seeing Christ's love in people, loving others, deepening faith and overcoming the fear of reaching out to others and the great love for humanity expressed in the Crucifixion.
