Ravens select Houston LB Bowser in 2nd round of NFL draft

According to Pro Football Focus, Humphrey allowed 16.3 yards per catch in 2016 and 17.4 yards per catch in 2015. A state champion high school hurdler and sprinter, Humphrey is one of the more physically talented cornerbacks in this year's draft class.

Working out with Greg Ward, Fred Ross and Justice Liggins on Friday, Tyus Bowser told his former John Tyler teammates where he'd like to go after missing out on being drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. Veterans Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr are the best bet, at least initially, but what the Ravens love most about top pick Marlon Humphrey is his ability to jam receivers at the line, cutting off the short passing game so many National Football League teams rely on.

On Thursday, the Ravens fortified their defensive backfield by selecting Humphrey with the 16th overall pick.

The Baltimore Ravens came into the 2017 NFL Draft needing to add talent on both offense and defense.

Based on the first two days of the draft, the Ravens, Eagles, and Seahawks fall into the latter category. "I know we say that a lot; we take the best available player".

Bowser's skill as a pass rusher is still in development, but he does showcase the needed tilt and initial burst to be able to play forward and beat defenders to the spot when rushing the passer. "But that is the way that it played itself out".

Their third reliever, Deolis Guerra (0-1), gave up the go-ahead homer by Travis, who was off to a 6-for-57 start to the season. Jesse Chavez had been dealing on the mound Monday, limiting the Jays to only two hits through the first 3.1 innings.

As a senior, Hill helped lead the defense by posting a career best of 52 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss, three interceptions and three pass breakups. Newsome fortified the backfield by signing cornerback Brandon Carr and safety Tony Jefferson.

Heading into 2017, Flacco is still the Ravens' most important player.

As part of the NFL UK tour, Smith talked about the upcoming NFL Draft, and the pressure on his old position.

Grade: B+. Fans might have wanted Newsome to make more of a "win now" pick, but other than Allen, who was out there?

What's notable about Jeremiah's pick of Marlon Humphrey is that he has correctly predicted the Raiders first round pick each of the last three drafts - Karl Joseph, Amari Cooper, Khalil Mack. It's the "Ravens way". Former Ravens head coach Brian Billick thinks that Williams has "double-digit sack potential".

"It's definitely a good pick for us", Harbaugh said. "That's what we've done and it's turned out to be defense".
