ECU coach surprises walk-on's mom with news of his scholarship

College football teams in the NCAA's D-I "Football Bowl Subdivision" are allowed to grant 85 full scholarships every year.

On Thursday, East Carolina head coach Scottie Montgomery visitied senior defense end Kiante Anderson's mother, Tia, at her work to deliver an early Mother's Day present.

Montgomery made a decision to reward walk-on defensive end Kiante Anderson with a scholarship, but he didn't go directly to Anderson. He joined the program in 2015, when he transferred from Division II St. Augustine's.

It's always hard to find just the right gift for Mother's Day.

Nicola Sturgeon rejects 'ludicrous' claims Tory surge could stop referendum bid
Labour's only Scottish MP in the last Parliament, Ian Murray, also looks poised to lose his Edinburgh South seat to the Tories. The First Minister insisted 8 June is the chance to put "Scotland's in Scotland's hands" and not those of Mrs May.

As you can see in the video below, Montgomery goes to Chapman's workplace to surprise her with the news.

"I was just praying about that last night", Chapman said.

One of the best parts about the surprise is that Anderson had no idea about his scholarship until his mom called him with the good news. He loves her, he speaks so highly of her and talks about her sacrifices.
