Novak Djokovic gave his Wimbledon hopes a boost by winning the Aegon Eastbourne International final against Gael Monfils in straight sets on Saturday.

Djokovic is playing his first pre-Wimbledon grass-court event in seven years as he looks to improve his form going into the Championships next week.

The top-seeded Djokovic saved two set points, on Young's serve at 5-4 and on his own serve in the tiebreaker, and clinched victory with a return victor.

Djokovic wrapped up the 68th title of his career with another break in the tenth game, when Monfils overhit his booming forehand.

Djokovic won 6-3, 6-4 for his first title since January in Qatar.

I think the route really suits a rider like Bardet, and he showed previous year that he has to be taken seriously. I think we've got the right team and I'm ready as well to do my best.

The world No 2's preparation for Wimbledon concluded with a 6-3 6-4 victory at Devonshire Park - just his second title of 2017 so far.

The sixth-seeded Dane's big-match experience told in the key moments of the third set, and she reached her fourth final of the year when Watson netted a forehand on Wozniacki's second match point.

"It was a great build-up and hopefully I'll be able to take the confidence from here and the good level of performance to London". "This is the kind of match situation that I was looking forward to having, and I'm glad it happened today and I managed to overcome that".

The former world number one is rebuilding for Wimbledon after a poor past year by his world-class standards and is pointing toward the grass-court major as an immediate goal.

The 26-year-old said, "It was definitely a good battle out there. Coming into Wimbledon and I will be available for Novak", Ancic told the Sportarena newspaper.
