Missing Fargo woman died of 'homicidal violence'

The couple who were found with a baby believed to have belonged to Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind will face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and providing false information when they appear in court Monday afternoon, August 28, the county prosecutor announced late Monday morning. They have not yet entered pleas to the charges against them.

"I knew something was wrong", Greywind says.

Eight days after she went missing, the missing daughter's body was found wrapped in plastic and duct tape in the Red River.

Todd said LaFontaine-Greywind's family had been notified.

Investigators remain tight-lipped about what happened to LaFontaine-Greywind after she went to that apartment.

In a statement, Fargo police chief David Todd said Greywind was a "victim of a cruel and vicious act of depravity", and officials will continue to look for answers. People reported that the pair lived in the same apartment building Greywind lived in with her parents and her 16-year-old brother.

Authorities have also said they were investigating a farmstead near where LaFontaine-Greywind's body was found, at which searchers found "suspicious items" that indicate it may be a crime scene.

Prosecutors allege the suspects plotted to kill Ms LaFontaine-Greywind to take her baby and raise it as their own.

Hoehn and Crews admitted that the child was Greywind's, according to CBS News.

But her boyfriend, William Hoehn, told police a different story according to court papers, saying he came home from work on the same day Savanna disappeared, to find his girlfriend cleaning up blood in the bathroom.

Police said she told her family that she was going to a neighbour's apartment to help with a sewing project.

On Friday, police said they believe they found Greywind's newborn baby girl in their apartment; however, they are waiting on a DNA test to confirm this.

There was no word on what additional charges Crews and Hoehn will face with the discovery of LaFontaine-Greywind's body.

Investigators will be back at the farmstead Monday morning. My world's gone, man.

Kidnapping expecting mothers to take their children is extremely rare, according to experts the Fargo Forum interviewed. Since they were not married, Matheny has not seen the baby yet. The healthy infant is the custody of child protective services and is being cared for in a medical facility. An infant believed to be Greywind's was found with Crews on Thursday.

Obviously, this is not the outcome anyone wanted, and there are still so many unanswered questions.
