Trump Administration Announces Termination of Popular DACA Program

Posted September 12, 2017

The recent announcement regarding the rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has raised concerns across the nation. After a short break, participants will then march to Placita Olvera in downtown Los Angeles, across from Union Station, where the demonstration is expected to end about 7 p.m.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program freed hundreds of thousands of young people from the fear of being deported to countries which many of them don't remember and where they would be in danger.

These young "dreamers" arrived in the United States as children and are registered with the federal government to get work permits, but remain undocumented in the migrant registry.

At the moment, the U.S. immigration laws stipulate that should you overstay your visa in the country, you will be banned from re-entering the country for three to nine years.

Just the other day, the Trump administration chose to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy that was passed during the Obama era.

"The Department of Homeland Security urges DACA recipients to use the time remaining on their work authorizations to prepare for and arrange their departure from the United States - including proactively seeking travel documentation - or apply for other immigration benefits for which they may be eligible". They are not criminals: in order to be accepted for DACA, you must have a nearly-clean criminal record.

The president tweeted, "For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about - No action!"

We can not be a country that promises the "American Dream" to all, only to pull the rug out from under them. "I think it's bad", St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said Friday.

"These kids don't - for the most part, don't know any other home than the United States", Ryan said on September 6.

"We will continue to work to fix our broken immigration system and the most important step in doing that is supporting the DREAMers who are contributing to our economy and were brought to this country by no fault of their own", Robinson said.

In the "60 Minutes" interview, Bannon described himself as a "street fighter" and signaled his intention to battle those, including members of the Republican establishment, who he believes are standing in the way of the "economic nationalist movement". They now face deportation as illegal immigrants.

In support of their argument that Trump's decision violates the constitution's equal-protection clause, the attorneys general pointed to derogatory remarks the Republican made about Mexican migrants on the campaign trail.
