Longtime Character actor Harry Dean Stanton has died at 91. He began attracting notice in higher-profile movies such as "Aliens", "Private Benjamin" and "Escape From New York", but it was with 1984's "Paris, Texas" that he rose to star status.
Stanton collaborated frequently with David Lynch, appearing in the director's Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks: The Return, miniseries Hotel Room, The Straight Story and Inland Empire. "I thought if I could be an actor, I could do all of it", the Twin Peaks actor said during one of his interviews for the documentary, Harry Dean Stanton: Crossing Mulholland.
"He played particular roles and was a natural in them", said Mills, who recalled how feeble Stanton was when he appeared at the Lexington festival in 2014 with actress Michelle Phillips. He was a great actor -actually beyond great.
According to TMZ, Stanton never married, but he is survived by some family members.
Stanton, who right off the bat in his vocation utilized the name Dean Stanton to stay away from perplexity with another performing artist, experienced childhood in West Irvine, Kentucky and said he started singing when he was a year old. "There went the great one", filmmaker Lynch wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.
