ISLAM Slimani scored a brilliant goal as Leicester beat Liverpool 2-0 in the third round of the Carabao (League) Cup.

Klopp's side enjoyed 70 percent of the ball in the third roudn tie and had 21 shots compared to Leicester's eight, but failure to cope with basic defensive tasks cost them dear.

'I think it would be unusual for me to say it after two and half weeks when Arsene Wenger said this after working with him for six or seven years, ' said Klopp, who has confirmed Wales global Danny Ward will be his goalkeeper for as long as Liverpool are in this competition.

In the last four games, there have been times when opposition teams have stolen into space without being tracked or have capitalised on half-hearted challenges from Liverpool players.

'From today's perspective yes, we have the resources, but we will see how it is again in January'.

"I thought he played the last game like a Liverpool player", Klopp explained. I think that should be the case regardless, but especially because we are playing the exact same fixture in back to back games; Leicester away.

But it all turned sour after the Brazilian was substituted at half-time - and if left Klopp feeling QUEESY!

It is rare to say that a 28-year-old is facing a career defining fight; however, this appears to be the case for Billy Joe. He came into this fight looking out of shape and his performance was nowhere near that of a world champion.

"We played really good football in the first half, we should have decided the game early".

"They all can. [Defenders at other clubs] are all good out there but they are not that good that you say: 'Yes they help immediately'".

Leicester's opening goal came just after the hour-mark, with sub Shinji Okazaki firing into the corner of Danny Ward's goal. "We need to concentrate to the end". "We need to make him fit but we can not push him through".

"You just feel the worldwide break had come at the wrong time".

We played well in the first half, we should have been able to ensure this match from the beginning, "said Klopp told Sky Sports".

Liverpool return to the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday and Klopp said he will forget about Tuesday's defeat.
