Spurs reportedly among teams in Wade sweepstakes

The Chicago Tribune first reported the two sides had agreed to a buyout.

What a day for Dwyane Wade and the Chicago Bulls.

Wade made a risky decision by opting in because two days after he did that, his friend Jimmy Butler was traded to Minnesota. They also let veteran guard Rajon Rondo walk in free agency.

For starters, of the five teams Wade is expected to consider, Miami is clearly the worst. Each team has a unique connection with Wade but money is tight for all. Miami Heat? Cleveland Cavaliers?

With the Cavs already having big scorers in James, Kevin Love and eventually Thomas, coach Tyronn Lue will need to make some changes in his offense if the 15th-year pro is added and moved into the starting lineup. As Bobby Marks mentions above, the Cavaliers barely have more than the minimum to offer Wade. Wade is also close to Carmelo Anthony, who was traded to Oklahoma City on Monday.

One thing is clear: Although Wade is on the downslope of his career, he will have options. The now-Thunder star will try to bring Wade down to his new city with him. Wade is also receiving interest from Miami, a place he played 13 of his 14 National Basketball Association seasons at. Miami is the least likely of the four teams to contend this upcoming season. Everyone wants to play for Gregg Popovich (except LaMarcus Aldridge).

The Spurs are perennial title contenders, and a duo of Wade and Kawhi, with Gay coming off the bench will definitely help the Spurs if they happen to meet the Warriors in the playoffs again, especially if Leonard can stay away from Zaza.

More recently, however, Riley spoke glowingly about Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union.

If Wade were to sign a three-year deal with a team option it would flawless set stones in place to go out and get LeBron.

Wade joining the opponent that beat his Miami team in the 2014 NBA Finals would be a fascinating marriage of player and system.
