Community recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

During the second event, 11 a.m. on October 19, Cancer Support Program Coordinator Rebecca Senoglu and a panel of breast cancer survivors will share their personal experiences and talk about the resources that are available from the moment of diagnosis.

An estimated 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 63,410 cases of in situ breast cancer will be diagnosed in USA women in 2017.

Breast cancer is most common in men ages 60 to 70.

A hair and beauty salon has embarked on a fundraising campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Breast cancer is a frightful and, in many cases, deadly disease that affects too many women across this country.

No causal connection has been found between drinking caffeine and getting breast cancer; In fact, some research suggests that caffeine may actually lower your risk.

As of today, there are more than 3.1 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women now being treated and women who have finished treatment.

"Breast cancer has one of the highest survival rates of all of the cancers in Ontario", said Dr. Nicole Zavagnin, Cancer Care Ontario's regional primary care lead in the Northwest region. ACS estimates that more than 40,000 women will die from breast cancer in 2017, and about 252,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
