Heavy Rain, High Winds On The Way To Our Area

Sunday may be bringing the rain, but Monday will bring the wind.

We issued a First Alert Sunday into Monday ahead of the significant storm.

Once the strong moves out, the power outage threat will continue into the day on Monday. Our live weather coverage begins early on Monday kicking off at 4 a.m. on NBC Connecticut. Winds could gust to hurricane force from Westerly to Narragansett to Newport to New Bedford to Cape Cod.and all the coastal communities in between. Wind this strong can make driving hard, especially for high profile vehicles. A High Wind Warning is in effect until 6am.

A high wind warning has been issued for Rockingham County in southeastern New Hampshire and in northern New Hampshire, for wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour early Monday. Recent rains have saturated the ground and southeast wind gusts of 70mph could easily take fully-leafed trees down. Even higher gusts are possible along the shoreline and especially areas of southern Middlesex and New London counties.
