Prayers, langars mark Guru Nanak b'day in Pb, Hry

In a greeting message, Governor Dr Najma Heptulla said Guru Nanak Dev was a symbol of love, tolerance and compassion. On the pious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Sikhs celebrate this mega day with great enthusiasm, and peace.

The nagar kirtan taken out on the penultimate day of Gurpurab to celebrate the birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, saw massive participation by devotees.

Born in 1469 in Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi (Nankana Sahib, now in Pakistan), Guru Nanak Dev was the first of the 10 Sikh Gurus.

Tight security arrangements were made around all leading Sikh shrines in Punjab. Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiqul Farooq welcomed the Sikh pilgrims at Wagah Railway Station. It is considered as the most sacred day in Sikhism. We will update the latest news here.
