Charlie Rose fired by CBS after sexual harassment reports

Co-anchor Norah O'Donnell: "Women can not achieve equality in the workplace or in society until there is a reckoning and a taking of responsibility. This behavior is wrong".

According to the Post's account, eight women who worked with or hoped to work on the Charlie Rose show say Rose, 75, made unwanted sexual advances. On Tuesday's CBS This Morning, Rose's co-anchors Nora O'Donnell and Gayle King spoke frankly about the alleged behavior.

His persona on "CBS This Morning" was a little more whimsical, given the lighter subject matter of morning news shows in the United States. I felt defensive in the exchange with Charlie and wound up angry with how he handled my book event. "If all of us commit to the best behavior and the best work - that is what we can be known for".

CBS News President David Rhodes sent a memo to CBS news employees on Tuesday informing them Rose had been fired. This followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior said to have revolved around his PBS program.

"PBS does not fund this nightly program or supervise its production, but we expect our producers to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect", PBS said in a statement.

We gotta give credit where credit is due - Megyn Kelly continues to be a consistent voice in the #MeToo movement with her unwavering call to attention to the sexual harassment allegations that are happening in droves right now.

Rose, for the most part, did not deny the accusations against him and issued a lengthy apology.

"CBS This Morning" will be without one of its hosts Tuesday after the network suspended Charlie Rose over sexual misconduct allegations leveled against the veteran newsman.

"Charlie does not get a pass here", King said. One of the accusers claimed that Rose had groped her breasts. "After reading that article in the Post, it was deeply disturbing, troubling and painful for me to read". "For all of the women, reporters interviewed friends, colleagues or family members who said the women had confided in them about aspects of the incidents". "Let me be very clear". This I know is true.

The actions by CBS and PBS came after both institutions suspended Rose on Monday night.

One of Rose's former assistants in the mid-2000s, Kyle Godfrey-Ryan, told the Post about at least a dozen times when she would be working out of one of Rose's New York City homes and he would appear naked in front of her.

"I think that you can't understate, you know, the level of influence and power that a man like Charlie Rose has", Brittain said. On behalf of SUNY Oswego, I will correspond with the Trustees of the State University of NY to discuss a path forward in regard to the status of Mr. "I failed. It is crushing".
