Trump focuses on National Football League as former official cuts ties

Michael Flynn's lawyers have told other defense lawyers in the ongoing Russian Federation probe, including President Donald Trump's legal team, that they're no longer able to share information, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

"He likes General Flynn personally, but understands that they have their own path with the special counsel", a White House lawyer, Ty Cobb, said in an interview last month with The New York Times.

Such a move isn't a definite sign Flynn is negotiating some sort of agreement.

Analysts say in Trump's worst-case scenario, Flynn stopped talking because he's cut a deal to give Mueller incriminating information against someone in exchange for lighter charges.

Former FBI Director James Comey testified before Congress that Trump sought to have him dismiss the FBI probe into Flynn - an investigation he said he quickly wrote a memo about.

While Flynn's lawyers had previously shared information with Trump's team, the change does not necessarily indicate that Flynn is cooperating with Mueller. It is also looking into possible collusion allegations between Moscow and the Trump campaign.

Trump Russia Rallying Cry

"Can you believe that the disrespect for our Country, our Flag, our Anthem continues without penalty to the players", he said, shortly after the New York Times reported former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn could be moving to cooperate with an investigation into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation.

Trump fired Flynn on February 13, after disclosures that Flynn had discussed US sanctions on Russia with then Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak in December, the month before Trump took office, and later misled Vice President Mike Pence about the conversations.

Mueller has been investigating whether Flynn knowingly made false statements to the government about his foreign travels, income, and contacts on his security clearance form.

Lawyers for both Trump and Flynn declined to comment to the Times.

Flynn also has come under scrutiny for work on behalf of Russian clients, and over whether his work for a businessman with ties to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was lawful.
