The NFL usually counts the game a player was ejected from as part of its punishment.
Then again, Talib's case won't be helped by his multiple prior incidents of misconduct.
Talib is appealing in hopes he might have a chance of getting it reduced one game because Crabtree was the instigator of the fight. Crabtree and Talib have taken their bloodfeud to its logical conclusion, and the payment for another repeat would surely test even their mutual resolves. Talib said he was bothered by Crabtree's attitude and chose to snatch his gold chain.
The fight started when Crabtree was blocking Talib. The Broncos players supported Talib in this latest incident, believing he was only responding to Crabtree's actions.
The NFL acted swiftly. Talib stands to lose roughly $1.4 million in salary if the discipline holds, and he effectively misses three games since he was ejected on Sunday's third drive. He sucker punched Broncos cornerback Chris Harris in the gut with 12:31 remaining in the first quarter.
"Your actions triggered a melee and endangered various sideline and league personnel, including one of our game officials, who was injured trying to maintain control of the situation".

While all of America was getting over their Turkey hangover this weekend, Prince Harry proposed to his girlfriend Meghan Markle . It was acquired a few years later by Canadian fashion house and importer PYA, which is based in a north Toronto suburb.
Talib and Crabtree were separated after the initial confrontation.
Crabtree is suspended for games against the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs and will be eligible to return to the Raiders' active roster on Monday, December 11 following the team's December 10 game against Kansas City.
Just BS. (Crabtree) came out there and didn't want to play football. They did run into two media members on their way to the ground. Finally, during the ensuing altercation, you grabbed and twisted that same opponent's facemask and threw a punch at him ... And Talib's calls him out because he "aggressively removed (Crabtree's) helmet and threw it in his direction, endangering him and various sideline personnel in the near vicinity".
In a letter to the players, an National Football League official stated that the brawl's second round contributed to the hefty two-game suspension.
Crabtree and Talib's appeals will be heard Tuesday, and a decision is expected by 6 p.m. ET.
"Such actions have no place in this game, engender ill will between teams, and lead to further confrontations", Runyon wrote.
