Dark storm clouds could not shadow the light of hope present at Butler’s 2006 Relay For Life held in the Reilly Room of Atherton Union Friday night. The Butler Dance team started the evening on an up-beat note performing at the opening ceremonies. Co-chair Kathy O’Brien thanked everyone for coming and recognized the survivors present, who were all Butler students.

We always are hearing the statements that America is a Christian country and only Christian holidays, beliefs and traditions are honored here. The people who make these statements are usually, but not always, Jews, Muslims and atheists. The question I have for people who make these bold, all-encompassing generalizations, though, is: What country have you been living in all these years? Upon further examination, America isn’t really all that respectful towards Christians.

The Bulldogs split a double header with Horizon league foe Wright State Tuesday afternoon. Butler senior Stephen Gill got things started with his first home run of the year coming in the first inning. However, the Raiders took control to win the first game 12-4 as they racked up 14 hits against the Butler pitching staff.

Last Tuesday, Of A Revolution, or O.A.R. as they are commonly referred to, played a highly energized set before a sold out house at Clowes Hall. This five-piece, consisting of Marc Roberge (lead vocals/guitar), Benj Gershman (bass), Chris Culos (drums), Richard On (guitar/vocals), and Jerry DePizzo (saxophone/guitar), has been producing music for the past ten years.
