Do shooters in basketball ever get the “hot hand”? Do baseball (or other sports) teams get hot or cold? Or, can everything in sports be accounted for by natural variability and a coin-toss model? These were all questions posed and answered at last Thursday afternoon’s presentation entitled "Sport Streaks" in Jordan Hall room 141.

Sorority life is not for all girls. Two years ago, one of my good friends went through formal recruitment, and then pledged a sorority. We saw her run by the window to her new sorority after her bid was given to her to join her new sisters. She was quickly swept up in sorority life, attending all the events and meetings, doing the philanthropy, and she was happy to do it because it was her responsibility and her wish to do so for her sisters. She knew the time commitments and the living situation before she joined, and she was prepared to make time for her sisters.

During Butler’s run through the NIT, ESPN's Steve Lavin made the comment that playing the Bulldogs is “like going to the dentist for two and a half hours. It isn’t going to be pleasant.” After Butler’s 65-41 victory over Ball State Wednesday night, I think the Cardinals would echo those sentiments.

“And don’t forget the number one rule of Dance Marathon,” Abby Frey, co-chair of Dancer Relations, said to a crowd dressed in bright green shirts who were crowded around the stage. “You have to be on your feet for 12 hours. And that starts now!"
