Nonie Vonnegut-Gabovitch was recently named coordinator of the Writers’ Studio, and she “can’t help but be enthusiastic” about her new position.

As new coordinator of the Writers’ Studio, she coordinates Butler’s Visiting Writers Series founded by Vivian S. Delbrook. She wants to look for ways to “integrate students and get them more excited about meeting with authors.”

Vonnegut-Gabovitch, who is a distant relative of the well-known author Kurt Vonnegut, works with the faculty committee that chooses the writers and helps provide accommodations for them as they travel to Butler. Her position also entails advertising and promoting for the series. Overall, she is in charge of the basic logistics of the program.

New Hampshire and Iowa receive special treatment from presidential candidates, because they are the first states that hold a presidential primary and caucus. Candidates consider these states important ones to win, as the winners gain momentum going into the other presidential primaries and caucuses.

The men’s basketball team staged a dominating performance for the Hinkle faithful Thursday night in a 63-50 win over Loyola’s visiting squad.

The win was a refreshing one, breaking the trend of close conference play that had marked the Bulldogs’ past road trip into Ohio. The Bulldogs’ only sign of weakness seemed to be losing the opening tip-off, as the rest of the game held great ball movement and resilient defense for those lucky enough to spectate.

Kate’s friends continued on with their drunken festivities, but in the corner, she stabilized herself against a not-so-sturdy bar stool as her boyfriend, Cole, gently hugged her. Don McLean had a way of bringing Kate back to the reality of her new life. This birthday would mark another year closer to Kate living longer without her brother, Joby, than with him alive.
