Despite late leads in two of the three games, the baseball team came up short in all three contests at UIC on Friday and Saturday.
In the first game on Friday, both teams had outstanding pitching, with no score heading into the ninth inning. Senior Joe Pauley changed that in Butler’s (6-17, 3-6) half of the inning with his third home run.
Unfortunately that 1-0 lead would be short-lived, as junior starting pitcher Matt Sokolowski did all he could to stay in line for the win, but after an error and a hit batsman, junior Evan DePotter came on in relief.

All six performers picked up singles wins as well.

The Bulldogs welcomed Youngstown State and Cleveland State into town over the weekend and took away wins from each.
Butler (11-10, 5-0) captured a 7-0 win against Youngstown on Saturday behind solid doubles play from sophomore Ben Raynauld and freshman Bryce Warren at No. 2 (8-0) and senior Sam Brown and freshman Brandon Bayliss at No. 3 (8-3).

The baseball team put on quite the show April 2, defeating local rival Marian 14-2 at Victory Field.
Butler’s (6-17, 3-6) offense came together for 16 hits led by senior Ryan Neat who finished 3-for-5 including a home run and a double.

Much of the spring volleyball season is about opportunity rather than winning championships. It is a chance to play non-conference teams while having less restriction on scheduling. The women’s volleyball team took this chance last Saturday when they traveled to Indiana University for an eight-team tournament in which the Lady Bulldog’s showed promise for the coming fall.

Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams successfully outlasted Horizon League foe Wright State last Sunday, with the men’s team picking up a 5-2 victory, and the women’s team claiming a 6-1 victory.

The baseball team was nothing short of impressive in the scoring category, but unfortunately the same could be said for the visiting Panthers, who took two out of three over the weekend.
In the first game on Friday, the Bulldogs (5-14, 3-3) posted a season-high 10 runs on 17 hits, but it wasn’t enough for Milwaukee’s 20 runs on 24 hits.

The men’s tennis team picked up its seventh consecutive win on Friday, defeating visiting Indiana State 4-3, before losing to Toledo 4-3 on Saturday.
The team was led by strong singles play from freshmen Brandon Bayliss and Bryce Warren and senior Sam Brown, who all picked up wins.
